can people eavesdrop VoIP calls?

I would never like to find out that there had been a person listening in on any one my phone calls, not a single one.

This is why it would be disgusting to find out that people can actually eavesdrop on conversations that are being held using the VoIP system in order to do so.

Keeping one's VoIP calls private are important to all people, I am certain. Who would like to know that they are having problems with their conversations being listened to by who knows?
